Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dismissed claims that Manchester City are an unstoppable force this season, despite losing to the Premier League leaders recently.

The Gunners suffered a 3-1 defeat to Pep Guardiola's side just prior the international break, which continued their impressive unbeaten start to the league season.

City hold an eight-point lead over the chasing pack after 11 games, but Wenger believes they can be beaten after suggesting that the referee influenced the result at the Etihad Stadium.

"They are a good side but they are not an unstoppable side," the Frenchman told BeIN Sports.

"If you look at the expected goals, it was 0.7 for them and 0.6 for us, it was a very tight game. They created very little and very little shots on target, just one more than us.

"The referee had an absolutely atrocious input to the result of the game. Overall we were hugely punished by the third goal because at 2-1 we would have been in the game.

"I don't dispute that they are a good side, but they are not an unstoppable side."

Wenger's men return to domestic action on Saturday with the north London derby against Tottenham, while the Citizens travel to Leicester later in the day.
